Antony Stathopoulos

Dr. Antony Stathopoulos is Professor Emeritus of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), School of Civil Engineering, Dept. of Transportation Planning and Engineering. He holds a Nat. Dipl. in Mathematics from the University of Athens, MSc Tech in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) and Dr-Ing from the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA. He was professor of Transportation Systems and Director of the Laboratories of Railways and Transport and of Personal Computers (PCLab) of the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA. He also taught Quantitative Methods in Transportation and Quality Assurance and Control. He coordinated three post-graduate courses, two at the Schools of Architecture (NTUA) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (NTUA) and one at the Department of Civil Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He currently coordinates two courses of the stream ‘Coastal Zone and Port Management’ of the Program of Post-graduate Studies in Water Resources Science and Technology of  the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA. He is a Member of the Steering Committee of the Joint Transport Research Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) and the International Transport Forum (ITF) in Paris and a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Transportation Science & Technology (IJTST). He has authored/co-authored more than 150 research papers published in international Journals and Conference Proceedings and two textbooks. His research interests span the fields of Transportation Systems Analysis, Modelling and Control, Port Planning and Operations, Environmental Impact of Transportation and Intelligent Transportation Systems. He has conducted contract research for the EU, the UN the Greek Government and various public and private sector Agencies on topics of Advanced Transport Telematics, Environment and Safety, User Response, Demand Management, Combined Transport, Railway Engineering and Demand and Technology Forecasting.
