Marco Rinaldi, Assistant Professor in Advanced Traffic Management at Delft University of Technology, will give a lecture on Thursday, March 13, at 14:00 at the Amphitheater of Railways and Transport of the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering of NTUA, titled “Auction-based approaches for distributed cooperative traffic management”.
Marco Rinaldi (1985) is Assistant Professor in Advanced Traffic Management at the Delft University of Technology. He studied Computer and Automation Engineering and completed his PhD research in 2016 on Information collection and Decomposition schemes for Network Traffic Management at the KU Leuven. Between 2016 and 2020 he worked with the University of Luxembourg, researching the impact of fleet electrification for Public Transport operations and tactic management. His research involves computational modelling and problem-solving for Multimodal Traffic Management, investigating aspects of data collection, availability and processing, as well as applications of novel techniques (AI) for fast, responsive and resilient decision support systems.

NTUA Zografou campus ring road asphalt restoration, January 2025
/in Latest News /by Maria KouakiOn January 20 2025, Section-A of the Zografou Polytechnic Campus ring road was put into use, following the completion of the asphalt paving restoration works.
It is noted that this section was the most damaged and that its restoration was carried out according to modern specifications and with a better asphalt quality category. Pavement Engineering Laboratory and the Departement of Transportation Planning and Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering contributed substantially to the design and supervision. Read more

In this lecture, we will explore the risk of bridges within road networks due to traffic load hazards, a key focus of Eng. Ventura’s research. Bridges can experience failures that undermine their serviceability or even lead to collapse. Since traffic load hazards are among the primary causes of bridge failures, evaluating the associated risk and implementing real-time risk management strategies are essential for ensuring the safety of road infrastructures. Traffic sings restoration at NTUA Zografou Campus, August 2024
/in Latest News /by Maria KouakiDuring summer holidays, the restoration of the traffic signs of the central part of the road network of NTUA Zografou campus was completed.
A total of: 90 signs marking dangerous places, 125 regulatory signs and 3 convex mirrors were installed with galvanized metal poles. The traffic signs have been placed according to Road Design Guidelines Manual (OMOE-KSO, OMOE-K3) and the Highway code, based on a traffic study prepared and provided by the Department of Transportation Planning and Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering.
